Parish Council of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Community
It’s a pleasure to address my fellow parishioners and visitors to our Parish’s new website regarding our Parish Council (PC) and the good work and services we strive to provide. The PC of St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Community is a collection of nine (9) parish members that have been elected by the parishioners to serve for three (3) years and no more than two (2) consecutive terms. The charge of the PC is multifaceted and includes but is not limited to the following:
- to act in an advisory capacity to the pastor of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish; to accept responsibility with the pastor for the life and mission of the Church in the parish;
- to act as an authentic representative voice of the people of God, lay and clerical to the pastor;
- to provide an open and honest forum of communication and dialogue regarding parish affairs among the pastor, associate priests, deacon, religious, the parish staff and the laity;
- to assist the pastor in the administration of the parish through recommendations and active cooperation, etc.
The PC recently embraced the later charge to “…through recommendations and active cooperation” by initiating an endeavor at the end of 2015 and continues through 2016 to develop a Parish Pastoral Plan (PPP) that is focused on providing a summary of where we are as a parish and surrounding area (including area development projections, parish membership demographics, etc.) today and where we are headed. The PPP will include data, critical feedback and recommendations to ensure that we collectively can successfully navigate through all of the opportunities and challenges that our parish will face in the next 3 to 5 years. See below for the PPP Vision statement:
Vision: The Parish Pastoral Plan will provide a Christ-centered framework for our pastor, his staff and all ministries, which will provide mission-based recommendations for the parish to successfully meet the challenges presented over the next 3 to 5 years.
If you have any questions or are interested in serving on the PC please contact me, Father Mike, Carol Smith or any of the Deacons. We are blessed to be part of such a welcoming and Spirit lead Catholic Community and I urge to get involved in any way that you can through the various ministries, clubs and Faith Formation opportunities – you will not regret it!
Yours in Christ,
Andy Linthicum, Parish Council President
